With fewer visitors and ever-changing winter conditions\, this is one of the most intimate and visually compelling times to experience the park. For photographers\, it offers a rare opportunity to explore the interplay of light\, weather\, and motion in one of North America’s most iconic wild places. \nThis small-group retreat is designed to immerse you in Yellowstone’s winter rhythms while refining your photographic vision. We’ll spend time in wildlife-rich areas like Lamar Valley\, where bison\, coyotes\, and the park’s famous wolf packs roam\, as well as explore the geothermal wonders of the geyser basins\, including the iconic Old Faithful. With shorter days keeping us closer to home base in the evenings\, there will be ample opportunity for image review\, critiques\, and discussion—helping you elevate both your technical skills and creative approach. \n \nLed by Art Wolfe and Gavriel Jecan\n Limited to 8 participants\n  \nSample Itinerary (Subject to Change)\nDay 1 – Arrival & OrientationArrive in the Yellowstone region and settle into our accommodations. We’ll gather for a welcome meeting to review the plan for the week\, discuss winter shooting strategies\, and prepare for the days ahead. \nDay 2 – Into the Winter LandscapeOur first full day begins with an early departure into the park. We’ll explore accessible geothermal areas\, working with steam\, frost\, and soft winter light. Expect a mix of landscape and abstract opportunities. \nDay 3 – Lamar Valley WildlifeWe head to Lamar Valley in search of wildlife. With luck\, we may observe wolves at a distance\, along with bison\, foxes\, and other winter-adapted species. Emphasis will be placed on long-lens technique and storytelling. \nDay 4 – Geyser Basins & Old FaithfulToday we explore the park’s geothermal heart\, including Old Faithful. Winter conditions often create striking contrasts between boiling water and frozen surroundings. \nDay 5 – Wildlife & Winter LightAnother day dedicated to wildlife\, adjusting our location based on current conditions and recent sightings. We’ll continue refining field techniques and adapting to dynamic winter light. \nDay 6 – Final Shoot & Wrap-UpA final morning shoot followed by a group critique session. We’ll review key images from the week and discuss takeaways before departures. \nHighlights\n\nExplore Yellowstone in its most serene and atmospheric season\nPhotograph wildlife in winter conditions\, including bison\, coyotes\, and the possibility of wolves\nVisit the famed Lamar Valley\, one of the best places in North America to observe wild wolves (sightings not guaranteed)\nCapture geothermal features in dramatic winter conditions\, including Old Faithful and surrounding geyser basins\nSmall group size for personalized instruction and ample shooting opportunities\nIn-the-field guidance focused on composition\, exposure\, and storytelling\nEvening image reviews and constructive critiques to refine your vision\nExperience Yellowstone with fewer crowds and a more intimate connection to the landscape\n\n\nIf you are interested in being notified when this tour has been finalized please fill out the form below. \n\n\n \n \n Advance notification list for workshop\n Fill out this form to be the first to be notified when this Art Wolfe Workshop is available for enrollment. \n \n X/TwitterThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phonenot required but often very helpfulWorkshopHave you traveled with us before?*\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Number of people wanting to attend?*1234Additional InformationAny other information that may be pertinent to the pre-registration of this workshop. \n \n I'd like to receive information from Art about upcoming events\, classes\, and travel opportunities\n Newsletter PreferenceGeneral (bimonthly)Blog Posts (weekly)Both\n By clicking submit you allow Art Wolfe Inc. to contact you using the information you have provided.
