Event Navigation

The Canadian Rockies mountain range spans the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. With jagged, ice-capped peaks, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a region of alpine lakes, diverse wildlife and outdoor recreation sites.

Throughout this unique photographic retreat you will be immersed in this beautiful mountain landscape where there are virtually photographic opportunities in every location you look. Art will work closely with participants to show the amazing potential the landscape has to offer. You will be working with the grand landscape as well as the more intimate with instruction on macro photography as well.

Our photo tour will go at a leisure pace through two National Parks in the area, Jasper and Banff. This tour will be an unhurried adventure without long drives. Similar to other retreats that Art will be leading, we have selected a lodge that is in close proximity to the many photographic destinations, so that we can offer a more relaxed photographic experience.

Over the next 4 full days, we will explore the pristine turquoise colored lakes, towering waterfalls, rushing rivers, canyons, and the majestic mountains of BANFF national park. Art prefers to leave the schedule a bit open so that he can select those which promise the best lighting conditions, given the current weather conditions. There are many different photographic locations in a close proximity to our lodge so there will be plenty of opportunities to capture unique landscape compositions in this pristine environment. However, our workshop is not only about capturing the grand landscape. Art will also work closely with each individual to ensure they fully grasp how to capture the more intimate aspects of landscape photography, providing group field sessions and one-on-one camera instruction.

Like Banff, Jasper has many gorgeous lakes. We’ll shoot at the Pyramid Lake, drive along the Saskatchewan river, reach the Maligne Lake. One evening we may even have a shooting session at the Medicine Lake.
