This workshop is designed to immerse you in that beauty\, guiding you beyond simply photographing the scene and into truly interpreting it. With endless curves and textures shaped by dryland farming\, the Palouse offers a rare purity of composition\, clean\, uninterrupted\, and endlessly inspiring. \nWorking within a small group\, you’ll explore this remarkable terrain at the most photogenic times of day\, with a beautiful sunrise session included. Along the way\, we’ll seek out weathered barns that echo a timeless\, agrarian past\, and ascend to sweeping viewpoints like Steptoe Butte\, where the land unfolds in layers of color and form. Often compared to Tuscany\, the Palouse holds its own quiet magic\, one that rewards patience\, creativity\, and a thoughtful eye. \nHighlights\n\nSmall group experience with plenty of one-on-one instruction\nPhotograph golden\, rolling hills at peak summer harvest\nClean compositions with no irrigation structures interrupting the landscape\nVisit Steptoe Butte for breathtaking panoramic views at sunrise\nCapture iconic Palouse barns full of character and history\nInspirational lecture to elevate your creative approach\nConstructive final critique to refine your vision and technique\nConnect with like-minded photographers in a relaxed\, welcoming environment\n\n  \nReserve Your Spot Today \n \nLed by Art Wolfe and Gavriel Jecan\n Limited to 10 participants\n Minimal hiking involved\n  \nTransportation and Accommodation\n\nParticipants are responsible for their own transportation\, lodging and meals. In the evening\, we gather for a relaxed meet and greet\, an opportunity to connect with fellow photographers and review the workshop itinerary for the days ahead. \nDay 2\nWe begin the day with an inspiring morning lecture focused on composition\, visual storytelling\, and how to interpret the Palouse’s sweeping forms and subtle textures. From there\, we head into the field\, exploring the region’s iconic rolling hills at their most luminous. Golden fields stretch in every direction\, uninterrupted by irrigation structures\, allowing for clean\, elegant compositions. \nThroughout the day\, we’ll work a variety of locations\, from abstract patterns in the farmland to weathered barns that add a sense of history and character. \nThe day concludes with a lovely dinner together. \nDay 3\nAn early start takes us to Steptoe Butte\, one of the region’s most celebrated viewpoints. From this elevated vantage\, the Palouse reveals itself in layers of light\, color\, and contour\, an unforgettable sunrise experience. \nThe remainder of the day is spent refining your eye and technique\, seeking out compelling compositions in the fields and among the region’s classic barns. With a small group\, there’s plenty of time for one-on-one guidance and creative exploration. \nWe close the day with another group dinner where we can discuss the highlights of the day. \nDay 4 –  Image Critique\nWe gather for a final morning critique session. This is a thoughtful and constructive critique\, where Art reviews each participants images in Adobe’s Lightroom as he edits and perfects them while the rest of the group learns from the experience. \nThe workshop concludes by late morning\, with participants departing inspired\, with a deeper understanding of composition\, and a portfolio of images that reflect the quiet beauty and rhythm of the Palouse. \nWe request a 50% deposit of $1375 to hold your space in this retreat.
