After an amazingly successful SOLD OUT Seattle seminar we decided to offer this special two day seminar in Portland, OR!
What is YOUR creative vision? Join Art Wolfe for this newly developed two-day workshop in Portland and begin to discover and define what makes your photography unique to you. Kicking off on Friday October 29th, you’ll join Art for an exclusive reception. Beverages and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided, and Art will also be giving a special sneak preview of Art’s upcoming book projects.
Over the next two days Art will use lectures, critiques, and art history as a reference to assist you in building a visual vocabulary of mental creative tools you’ll be able to employ wherever your travels may take you. Art will join participants in the field for two sessions at notable Seattle locations – this is a remarkable opportunity to photograph with Art!
The goal of the Art of Seeing is just that – teaching photography enthusiasts at all skill levels to truly visualize and identify creative shots that stand on their own as unique artistic creations rather than the typical travel photo. Throughout the course of the weekend, Art will discuss his approach and how it might help foster your own creative style.
To keep our instructors and clients safe and healthy as well as streamlining the process of acquiring venues and accommodations, we are asking that all workshop and seminar participants be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Thank you for your understanding!
Space is limited to 20 total participants to ensure social distancing is possible.
Seminar Schedule
Day 1 Friday, October 29
Meet and greet at 6pm. Art Wolfe will provide a special presentation the evening before the seminar from 6-9pm. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided.
Day 2 Saturday, October 30
- 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Lecture I
- 10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Lecture II
- 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lecture III
Breaks will be provided throughout the lectures.
- 1:30pm – 5:00pm Saturday Afternoon & Evening – Field Session
Art will be photographing with the group in the field at a wonderful old collection of cars located near Toledo, WA. You will have Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning to photograph in the field. You will bring what you photograph to Sunday’s session for Art to critique.
Participants may photograph with Art or independently.
Day 3 Sunday, October 31
- 9:00am – 12:00pm Sunday Morning – Field Session
Art will be photographing with the group in the field at the Portland Japanese Garden or in the Columbia River Gorge.
Just in case you didn’t have enough time in the field on the previous day, Art has decided to start the critique a little later in the day so that you have more chances to photograph and/or to work on your photos for the critique session.
Participants may photograph with Art or independently.
- 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Group Critique and Review
Do not be intimidated by this four hour critique session! It is often the most constructive and informative segments of Art’s workshops. Participants are asked to bring two samples of their work to share.
