Join legendary photographer Art Wolfe for an immersive workshop focused on discovering abstract imagery in one of the Pacific Northwest’s most breathtaking regions—the Columbia River Gorge. Known for its dramatic waterfalls, moss-laden forests, and basalt cliffs, the Gorge also harbors quieter, lesser-known locations that offer extraordinary potential for artistic expression.
In this workshop, Art will guide you in seeing beyond the obvious and into the world of texture, pattern, color, and form. Learn how to shift your perspective and refine your eye for abstraction through field sessions that emphasize composition, light, and creative interpretation.
We’ll be based out of the charming town of Hood River, Oregon, where a vibrant dining scene provides the perfect end to a productive day in the field. Each day will feature hands-on instruction in stunning natural settings, followed by thoughtful image reviews and group discussion designed to push your creativity further.
This workshop is ideal for photographers looking to move beyond traditional landscape imagery and into a more conceptual, expressive approach to nature photography.

Itinerary
Shooting schedules have the ability to be altered to effectively cater to the photographic desires of the group, as well as to adapt to changeable weather conditions.
Day 1:
- Meet and greet at 8pm at hotel meeting room. Everyone can introduce themselves, and Art will give a brief description of the proposed itinerary.
- Group no host dinner
Day 2:
- Inspirational Lecture
- Field shoot
- Download images from the day of shooting
- Dine together with Art and Gavriel (no host dinner)
Day 3:
- Full day field session
- Download images from the day of shooting
- Dine together with Art and Gavriel (no host dinner)
Day 4:
- Informative critique session. Learn from each others images while they are projected for the group. Art will adjust them in Adobe Lightroom and provide instruction.
- Workshop will conclude by 12pm
