DAY 1: JAN 11 ARRIVAL IN ARUSHA, TANZANIA (D)

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Air travel delays are possible, so please consider arriving early, possibly the day prior. We don’t want you to miss out on trip activities. Airport transfer is included on arrival.

Transfer via a private vehicle to a small and exclusive inn. Set in lush gardens filled with birdsong and surrounded by coffee estates, Katambuga House is an oasis of tranquility within Arusha. Located in expansive tropical gardens with Mount Meru in the background. An excellent starting point for a safari to the national parks of Tanzania.

DAYS 2-5: JAN 12-15 Lobo Valley – A Hidden Gem in the Serengeti (B,L,D)

This morning the group will board a flight from Arusha to our next destination, the Lobo Valley. (Internal flight included in tour cost)

Tucked away in the remote northern reaches of the Serengeti, the Lobo Valley is a breathtaking mosaic of open plains, granite kopjes, and acacia woodlands. Often overlooked in favor of the more frequented central regions, this area offers an unmatched sense of solitude and raw wilderness—perfect for photographers seeking intimate wildlife encounters and dramatic landscapes.

In January, the Lobo Valley comes alive with one of nature’s most awe-inspiring spectacles: the Great Migration. During this time, vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle move through the region in search of fresh grazing, creating endless photographic opportunities. The sheer density of wildlife draws predators like lion, cheetah, and hyena, adding thrilling moments of predator-prey interaction to the experience.

Even beyond the migration, Lobo boasts a rich variety of resident wildlife. Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, and the elusive leopard are often seen, while the area’s ancient granite outcrops and rolling hills provide stunning backdrops for wildlife and landscape photography alike.

With its dramatic scenery, abundance of wildlife, and relative seclusion, the Lobo Valley offers a more off-the-beaten-path safari experience—one that feels both wild and wonderfully unspoiled. For photographers, it’s a dream location where every game drive holds the promise of something extraordinary.

Your accommodation here will be at Africa Eco Expeditions Camp which was built by wildlife photographers and conservationists.

Set in the heart of the northern Serengeti, Africa Eco Expeditions Camp offers an authentic yet comfortable safari experience designed to keep you close to the action. This intimate camp places guests right where the wildlife is—ideal for photographers looking to maximize their time in the field.

The camp features spacious, safari-style tents equipped with cozy beds, en-suite bathrooms, and hot bucket showers. Evenings are spent around the campfire under a canopy of stars, with delicious meals and stories from the day shared in the mess tent. Solar power and Eco-friendly practices ensure that your stay leaves a light footprint on the land.

What truly sets this camp apart is its exclusivity and location. Far from the busier parts of the Serengeti, it offers a front-row seat to wildlife action, often just steps from your tent. With expert guides and a small group atmosphere, this is a camp that brings you as close as possible to the wild—without sacrificing comfort or warmth.

DAYS 6-9: JAN 16-19 Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Southern Serengeti Ecosystem) (B,L,D)

This morning the group will drive to our next destination, the Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp, located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the Southern Serengeti Ecosystem.

In January, the vast short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti—technically part of the greater Ngorongoro Conservation Area—become the stage for one of Africa’s most powerful wildlife spectacles: the calving season of the Great Migration. More than half a million wildebeest converge here to give birth, flooding the landscape with life and attracting a full cast of predators in their wake.

This region, often referred to as the “cradle of life,” is not only biologically rich but visually stunning. Rolling plains stretch to the horizon, punctuated by lone acacia trees and the occasional kopje—an iconic, dreamlike setting for photographers seeking wide, cinematic landscapes and intimate wildlife moments alike.

The sheer volume of wildlife during this season is extraordinary. You’ll likely encounter wildebeest and zebra herds in the thousands, with plenty of opportunities to photograph interactions between mothers and calves. Lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are ever-present, drawn by the abundance of vulnerable prey, making for compelling storytelling through the lens.

This is where the wild is still truly wild—and for those seeking to capture the raw energy and emotion of Africa’s great migrations, there’s no better place to be.

Your accommodation here will be at Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp – Tailored Luxury, Right on the Migration Route

Designed with movement in mind, Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp follows the pulse of the Great Migration—shifting locations throughout the year to place guests in the heart of the action. In January, the camp is set within the southern Serengeti ecosystem of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, perfectly positioned for witnessing the wildebeest calving season, one of the most dramatic and photogenic periods of the migration.

The camp features spacious canvas tents with full-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, and hot showers, striking a thoughtful balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. Warm hospitality, excellent cuisine, and personalized service elevate the experience, while a cozy lounge and dining area offer space to relax and recharge between game drives.

For photographers, Nasikia’s location is second to none. Being mobile means being exactly where the wildlife is, and in January, that means an abundance of activity right outside your tent—newborn calves, big cats on the prowl, and a constant buzz of life on the plains. It’s a front-row seat to nature’s most extraordinary show.

DAY 10: JAN 20 DEPARTURE DAY (B)

After breakfast the group will catch a charter flight back to Arusha for continuing travel home. (Internal flight included in tour cost)

Please select late afternoon or evening departure flights to ensure you have time after our groups internal flight arrives back in Arusha.
